About the Course:

This course examines women’s experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) at different life course stages. Shorter and longer term consequences of abusive relationships are explored. Implications for community education and services and supports are presented.

Nerille Hing, PhD

Nirilee Hing, PhD, is a Professor at the School of Health, Medical, and Applied Sciences at Central Queensland University in Bundaberg, Australia. Dr. Hing has been conducting research for 25 years.

Catherine O'Mullan, DrPH

Catherine O’Mullan, DrPH, is a Senior Lecture at the School of Health, Medical, and Applied Sciences at Cental Queensland University in Bundaberg, Australia. Dr. O’Mullan has worked as a health promotion practitioner for over 20 years both in Australia and in the UK.

Casadi ‘Khaki” Marino, PhD, LCSW

Casadi “Khaki” Marino, PhD, LCSW, is a social worker with experience in many different treatment settings and with a wide range of client populations. She has worked in residential care, secure and forensic settings, and in emergency rooms. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and holds certificates in EMDR, Trauma Informed Services, and Domestic Violence. She is currently working as a therapist in an outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry clinic.

Recommended For:

Counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.

  1. Describe a life course perspective of intimate partner violence (IPV)

  2. Discuss common trajectories, transitiones, and turning points in the lived experience of IPV.
