  2. Recognize and select the choice points that keep sessions focused, positive and productive.
  3. Use an emotion focused genogram that illuminates each individual’s unarticulated longings, world view, values and assumptions about relationships.
  4. Design active interventions that incorporate an in depth understanding of each person's needs.
  5. Describe how to intervene in ways that help the couple change “complaints” into wishes.
  6. Plan and prepare for numerous difficult situations that couple therapists encounter.
