In reviewing research on the effectiveness of behavioral therapy on treatment outcomes, research has shown that attendance at therapy sessions tends to resolve psychological complaints more so than total absence therapy. This course explores the empirical evidence to show that effectiveness of therapists’ work has not become more effective over the past several decades. In the first chapter of this book, the authors describe several areas of improvement in the training of behavioral health practitioners and a model for how behavioral health practitioners can excel to expert levels of clinical practice.

Tony Rousmaniere is Clinical Faculty at the University of Washington and has a private practice in Seattle. Rodney K Goodyear, Ph.D
Rod Goodyear is a professor and director at the Center for Advanced Professional Education at the University of Redlands. His primary area of scholarship has been counselor training and supervision, with a number of articles, chapters, and books over the past 30 years. His supervision book (Bernard & Goodyear, 2019), now in its sixth edition, has become the standard in the field.
Scott D. Miller, Ph.D
Scott D. Miller, Ph.D. is a co-founder of the Center for Clinical Excellence, an international consortium of clinicians, researchers, and educators dedicated to promoting excellence in behavior health. He is the author of numerous articles and co-author of multiple books.
Paul Pawlicki, PsyD, received his degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL, in 2005. From 2004-2006, he taught courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, and human sexuality at Collin College in Plano, TX. He currently practices individual therapy at the Department of Sexual Medicine at Park Nicollet Health Health Services near Minneapolis, MN.
