This course address detoxification and substance abuse treatment, gives an overview, essential concepts, and definitions in detoxification; settings, levels of care, and patient placement; an overview of psychosocial and biomedical issues during detoxification. It includes: the role of various settings in the delivery of services, other concerns regarding levels of care and placement, evaluating and addressing psychosocial and biomedical issues, strategies for engaging and retaining patient in detoxification, and referrals and linkages.
