Kamilla L. Venner, PhD
Dr. Vennar received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She is an Assistant Professor and Research Assistant Professor. Her research focuses on improving the alarming substance use related health disparities for American Indian/Alaska Natives while balancing the focus on cultural strengths and high rates of abstinence from substances. One avenue to improved outcomes has been to culturally adapt evidence-based treatments in partnership with AIAN communities. Another line of research has been elucidating the path to resolving alcohol dependence.
Brenna L. Greenfield, PhD
Brenna Greenfield is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Biobehavioral Health on the Duluth Campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Her research focuses on substance use disorder treatment and recovery, prevention of opioid overdose deaths, behavioral health interventions, and American Indian health equity. She teaches first and second-year medical students about motivational interviewing and psychological interventions. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and is a 2019 Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment Editorial Fellow.
Kylee J. Hagler
Kylee J. Hagler is a PhD student at the University of New Mexico. Her current research focuses on the influence of stereotypical beliefs about Native American drinking on the formation of injunctive and descriptive normative beliefs about alcohol use in this population. Research interests include: development of culturally-appropriate treatments for alcohol use disorders, mechanisms of change in alcohol treatment, and conceptualization of alcohol use in culturally diverse populations.
