About the Course:
This research intensive course examines various aspects of treatment in racial and ethnic groups and sexual minorities. Evidence-based practices were used to study alcohol use, abuse, and dependence in ethnic minorities. Point of sale intervention, family intervention, computer technology, cultural traditions, culturally grounded intervention, prevention, were all studied for various groups. Alcohol research in American Indians was highlighted. Race and ethnicity as well as sexual minority does play a role in which treatment is effective for each group, and group subsets.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, Culturally Competent Prevention and Treatment created by Erick G Guerrero, PhD., Bryan R. Garner, Ph.D., and Arthur Blume, PhD. in 2016.
