About the Course:
This course examines quality improvement of therapist effects through routine outcomes monitoring. The study was longitudinal lasting 7 years, using 153 therapists treating 5,128 patients in Canada. An agency used psychotherapy training expertise through obtaining specific and ongoing feedback, developing a culture of quality improvement, the use of deliberate practice through rehearsing and evaluating a plan for improvement, the use of outcome data in agency-wide trainings which focused on discussing the progress of specific therapy cases, with an emphasis on cases that were not progressing, and intentional practice to develop therapeutic skills, and monthly two hour consultations with an external consultant.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, Creating a Climate for Therapist Improvement-A Case Study of an Agency Focused on Outcomes and Deliberate Practice created by Simon Goldberg, PhD, Robbie Babins-Wagner, PhD, and Tony Rousmaniere, PsyD in 2016.
