Shoshana S. Bennett, Ph.D.

Shoshana S. Bennett, Ph.D., founded Postpartum Assistance for Mothers in 1987 and is a past president of Postpartum Support International. She is the author of several books regarding postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, as well as the creator of the first PPD app. "Dr. Shosh" is a nationally recognized expert on this topic.

Pec Indman, PA, Ed.D., MFT, PMH-C

Pec Indman, PA, Ed.D., MFT, PMH-C, is a past chair of education and training for Postpartum Support International and continues to develop curriculum and provide trainings through this organization. She is nationally certified in Perinatal Mental Health.

Elizabeth Mosco, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in Reno, NV. She opened a private practice after 10 years of conducting home-based assessment and therapy with the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System. Dr. Mosco’s clinical interests include maternal mental health, older adults, and third wave cognitive behavioral therapies.

Course Objectives:

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  1. Identify the symptoms of the most common postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
  2. Summarize how partners, friends, and family can support a mother suffering with a postpartum mood or anxiety disorder.
  3. Discuss the utility of postpartum mental health screening and identify the most common postpartum screening inventories.
  4. List multiple treatment modalities for mothers and partners experiencing postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, including the benefits and risks of medication in treatment.
  5. Discuss the risks and benefits of medication for treating postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, including the implications for breastfeeding.
