Sylvie Naar, PhD

Sylvie Naar, PhD, is Professor and a highly regarded behavioral researcher whose focus includes improving the health of minority adolescents. Dr. Naar is involved in research that includes HIV-related self-management among youth, adherence to asthma medication among urban African-American adolescents, diabetes care in minority youth, and alcohol and food consumption in female college students who have experienced dating or sexual violence, among other topics.

Steven A. Safren,PhD, ABPP,

Dr. Safren is the Director of the UM Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health (NIMH-funded Developmental AIDS Research Center D-ARC) and the Health Promotion and Care research program (https://hpac.psy.miami.edu/) where we study health behavior change, with a particular emphasis on mental health and substance use components of HIV prevention and treatment domestically and globally.

Course Creator

David M. Lutkemeier

David Lutkemeier holds a BA degree in psychology, a master’s degree in developmental psychology, and a doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati in Special Education and Psychology. He is certified as a psychologist by the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners, as well as holding public school superintendent certification in Arizona and California. Dr. Lutkemeier has worked as an assistant professor at Arizona State University, a school psychologist, special education director, assistant superintendent, and superintendent in both Arizona and California. David, working as a consultant with a national curriculum management group (CMSi) has completed over two dozen comprehensive district-wide curriculum audits in 15 states over the past 20 years and has worked as a test developer for CE Learning Systems for the past ten years.
