Posttraumatic Growth in Parents and Pediatric Patients

This course was updated 7 days ago. If you're about to take the exam, you may benefit from reviewing the exam questions listed below before starting on the actual exam.

About the Course:

Both children and their parents can be traumatized by serious pediatric illness for a variety of reasons (e.g., its onset, hospitalization, acute physical injury). While much research has been done on the development of PTSD and/or PTSD-related symptoms, less has been done on some of the positive outcomes of traumatic experiences. Posttraumatic growth can contribute to significant positive outcomes for individuals to include greater appreciation for life. This article presents a literature review regarding posttraumatic growth in parents and patients with serious pediatric illness.

This course is based on the reading-based online, Posttraumatic Growth in Parents and Pediatric Patients created by Joseph A. Picoraro, MD in 2014.
