This course covers a guide for implementing the ’2007 Patient Safety Goals on Suicide’ by The Joint Commission. It is appropriate for social workers, psychologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists, nurses, and other similar professions that wish to gain more detailed knowledge of models for assessing and intervening with suicidal patients.

  1. Understand The Joint Commission’s 2007 Patient Safety Goals on Suicide.

  2. Present the SAFE-T Model for application to working with suicidal patients.

  3. Develop knowledge regarding suicidal risk factors and related implications.

  4. Understand the process for suicide risk assessments.

  5. Learn documentation requirements for cases involving suicidal patients.

  6. Develop knowledge competency of intervening with suicidal patients in hospital settings and inpatient psychiatric settings.
