This course, based on a book by David J. Powell and Archie Brodsky, presents a blended model of clinical supervision for the alcoholism and drug abuse fields. The approach presented draws from the psychodynamic, skills, and family therapy models. This edition of the book incorporates spiritual issues into the blended model, cites court rulings that may affect supervisors, and provides updated references.

About the Author:
David J. Powell, Ph.D., LADC, CCS, is president of the International Center for Health Concerns, Inc., a health consulting company. He assists worldwide in the education and training of behavioral health professionals. Formerly he was president of ETP, Inc. for twenty-five years, and in that capacity oversaw clinical supervision training programs for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps worldwide. He has trained managers, counselors, and clinical supervisors in every state and many countries. He is a licensed alcoholism and drug abuse counselor, certified clinical supervisor, certified sex therapist, and licensed marriage and family counselor.
This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about clinical supervision of substance abuse counselors. It is appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels of participants’ knowledge.
