Approval in Idaho

Education must include four (4) hours of Ethics training. As of January 1st, 2017 ethics must be face-to-face (as defined below) and cannot be an in house in-service training.

Coursework for initial application must be from a college or University that has been accredited by a national or regional accreditation body and listed with the U.S. Department of Education. Renewal 40 hours of continuing education is required with four (4) of those 40 hours being Ethics training. Ethics must be face-to-face, interactive webinar, or competency-based training (has a test included in the training) and cannot be an in-house in-service training. Face-to-face education is defined as in-person with an instructor or through an electronic medium that allows for real-time interactivity with the instructor(s) as the educational content is presented.

Initial - Minimum of 120 hours of education specific to the Performance Domains- (must include the following):

· Documentation of 50 hours specific to tobacco and/or other drugs training.

· Documentation of education in each of the six domains to include a minimum of ten hours in each of the six Performance Domains. The domains include: Planning and Evaluation, Prevention Education and Service Delivery, Communication, Community Organization, Public Policy and Environmental Change, and Professional Growth and Responsibility. Renewal 40 hours of continuing education hours with the following requirements:

· Four of the 40 hours being in the domain of professional growth and responsibility or ethics training. These four hours must be face-to-face, defined as in person with instructor or through an electronic medium that allows for real-time interactivity with the instructor(s) as the educational content is presented. All education must be approved by the IBADCC or an accredited college/university at the time the education is conducted.

Initial - 46 hours of specific education/training related to the PRC domains of Advocacy, Mentoring/Education, Ethical Responsibility and Recovery Wellness/Support. There should be no less than 10 hours in each domain with the exception of Ethical Responsibility. There should be documentation of a minimum of 16 hours in the Ethical Responsibility domain. Advocacy: 10 hours minimum Mentoring/Education: 10 hours minimum Recovery Wellness/Support: 10 hours minimum Ethical Responsibility: 16 hours minimum Total Education/Training Hours: 46 hours. 500 hours of work experience is required for this certification. Renewal Twenty (20) hours of continuing education/training every two years specifically related to the four PRC domains is required, with six (6) of those twenty hours being in the domain of Ethical Responsibility.
