About the Course

The text contains new material on ethical guidelines related to assessment, laws pertaining to children with disabilities, the Differential Ability Scales, brief intelligence tests, achievement tests, language tests, and background considerations relevant to the evaluation of culturally and linguistically diverse children. The text has expanded coverage of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children—Third Edition, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale—Third Edition, the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scales of Intelligence—Revised, the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition, report writing, general testing techniques, administrative techniques, psychometric considerations, assessment theory, and the assessment process. It also contains several useful learning aids: a list of major headings and goals and objectives at the beginning of each chapter; a summary of each major topic area; a list of key terms, concepts, and names, each linked to the page on which it appears; and a list of study questions at the end of each chapter.

Dr. Sattler is a renowned expert in the assessment of children. He has written extensively on the subject. The fourth edition of Assessment of Children-Behavioral and Clinical Applications and its companion book, Assessment of Children-Cognitive Applications, were published in 2001. Earlier editions have been considered gold-standard resources for school psychologists and others who work with and assess children. Dr. Sattler is Professor Emeritus and Adjunct Professor at San Diego State University.
