About the Course:

This course reviews the Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) for Clinicians dealing with trauma, substance and alcohol abuse, and mental illness among the American Indian and Alaska Native population. This protocol reinforces the importance of delivering culturally responsive, evidenced-based services to address these behavioral health challenges. This course focuses on the Executive Summary and Chapter 1 of Part 1 of the TIP, entitled: Practical Guide to the Provision of Behavioral Health Services for American Indians and Alaskan Natives. The target audience for this section are behavioral health service providers. The purpose of this section is to serve as a guide to help behavioral health service providers improve their cultural competence when providing services for American Indian and Alaskan Native clients.

This course is based on the Executive Summary and Chapter 1 of (TIP) 61: Behavioral Health Services for American Indians and Alaska Natives created by SAMHSA in 2018.
