A strong online presence has become a crucial component of outreach and community presence for many grief centers, hospices, and counseling centers. This session will assist practitioners in understanding how to use a website, blog, and various social media platforms to expand their grief and mental health practice. Led by two mental health practitioners with expertise in online grief support and marketing, this session will review the benefits of an online presence for mental health practitioners, how an online presence can improve community access to grief and bereavement services, and give practical advice on building an online presence from the ground up. The session will share best practices in online community-building and outreach. Grief and mental health practitioners will leave with concrete tools for assessing, establishing or improving their online presence.

Litsa Williams MA, LCSW-C, presenter
Eleanor Haley MS and Litsa Williams MA, LCSW-C are the co-founders of the grief websites 'What's Your Grief', 'Photogrief' and 'Grief in Six Words'. Both are mental health professionals with a collective 18+ years experience working in grief and bereavement in Baltimore, MD. Before founding What's Your Grief, Eleanor and Litsa supported patients and families in the hospital at end of life in circumstances of unexpected death, and provided ongoing grief and bereavement support in the years following the loss. Feeling frustrated with the online and print materials that were available for grievers, the two founded What's Your Grief as a resource offering concrete, practical, creative, down-to-earth, and relatable grief support. In addition to the online offerings, What's Your Grief offers a small library of print resources provided to families by a growing number hospices, hospitals, funeral homes, OPOs, and grief centers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
