About the Course:

This webinar reflects on the changes in the theory and treatment of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Dissociative Disorder: Not Otherwise Specified (DD-NOS) from 1970 to 2013. Richard P. Kluft, M.D., Ph.D., a renowned psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of these conditions, explains in detail the background and paradigm shifts that have affected the theory and treatment of these disorders, as well as common factors affecting clients with these disorders. Specific treatment recommendations are provided.

Richard P. Kluft, M.D., Ph.D., practices psychiatry (Board Certified), psychoanalysis, and medical hypnosis in Bala Cynwyd, PA. He is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Temple University School of Medicine, on the faculty of the Philadelphia Center for Psychoanalysis, and teaches psychoanalysis in China with CAPSA. He has published over 240 scientific papers and book chapters. His edited books include Childhood Antecedents of Multiple Personality, Treating Victims of Sexual Abuse, and Incest-Related Syndromes of Adult Psychopathology. He and Catherine G. Fine, Ph.D., co-edited Clinical Perspectives on Multiple Personality Disorder. In 2013 he published Shelter from the Storm, a text on processing traumatic material. He was Editor-in-Chief of DISSOCIATION and is currently Clinical Forum Editor of the International Journal of Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis and Advisory Editor of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. Awards include 4 Milton Erickson Awards for Excellence in Scientific Writing from the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Pierre Janet Distinguished Lectureship of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. Most recently, he received the 2009 Pierre Janet Award for Clinical Excellence from The International Society of Hypnosis and the Raginsky Award for leadership in the field of hypnosis from the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Dr. Kluft presents widely. He has taught workshops in 12 countries. He has helped over 200 DID patients achieve complete integration. He has extensive experience in treating victims of sexual exploitation by psychotherapists, and has served as an expert witness in several malpractice cases involving boundary violations. His contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of dissociative disorders and his research on how to enhance the safety of hypnosis and hypnosis training are considered landmarks in these fields.
