About the Course:
In Holistic Counseling Seminar 5, the systems theory of Clare Graves, PhD and its growth into Spiral Dynamics is presented. The historical evolution of belief systems and its effect on individual development and growth is explored. The learning systems and how their physiological and psychological underpinnings have evolved is described. Therapies that have been generated to utilize evolving learning systems will be explicated and the counselors own systems development and its impact on effectiveness will be discussed. An opportunity to identify ones levels of belief will be also be presented.

About the Author:
Jim has held licensure as a clinical psychologist since 1973. He is a clinical supervisor, seminar leader and has pioneered in the integration of psychotherapy with such mind/body techniques as breathwork and bio-spiritual energetics. He founded the School of Integrative Psychology in 1980 and the Transformations Breathworker Training Program in 1990 and has authored four books in the field of spiritual psychology. He is co-director of the International Breathwork Training Alliance and founder of InWellness.
This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially psychologists, counselors, and social workers, who seek knowledge about the theory and practice of holistic counseling. It is appropriate for an introductory level of participants’ knowledge.

Describe at least one therapy having developed from each emergent learning system.
Identify how a counselor’s development impacts effectiveness with particular clientele.
