About the Course:

Arranged for easy reference, each bearing a succinct description and targeted application, the interventions illustrated–including Fantasy, Storytelling, Expressive Arts, Game Play, Puppet Play, Play Toys and Objects, and Group Play–have been used with success to address such common problems as low self-esteem and unresolved fear and anger as well as more serious difficulties arising from loss, abuse, and sexual trauma. All the contributors share the enthusiasm and respect of editors Kaduson and Schaefer for the special value of play therapy in reaching and healing young patients. Dr. Schaefer is Professor of Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He is co-founder and Director Emeritus of the Association for Play Therapy, and founder and co-director of the Play Therapy Training Institute in New Jersey. Dr. Schaefer is the author/editor of over 50 books on play therapy and effective parenting, and has published 100 research articles. He is the co-ordinator of an International Play Therapy Study Group that meets each year in Wroxton, England. Dr. Schaefer maintains a private practice in Teaneck, New Jersey.
