Senate Bill 141 created the Missouri Board of Occupational Therapy in 1997. The Board, in collaboration with the Division of Professional Registration, is responsible for developing, implementing and administering the rules and regulations necessary to carry out the Occupational Therapy Practice Act.
The mission of the Missouri Board of Occupational Therapy is to protect the citizens of the state through the licensing of occupational therapists and assistants, assessing their competence to practice. It is also the Board’s duty to investigate all complaints against its licensees in a fair and equitable manner.
Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants are required to complete 24 CE hours during every 2-year renewal period, as a condition for renewal. The renewal period ends on June 30th of odd years.
Per the Board, “Pre-approvals for courses are not necessary. Any course that you can prove helped with your profession would suffice.”
Each licensee shall retain documentation of the CE hours verified on the renewal form for two (2) years following license renewal.
