Minnesota Department of Human Services CE Information

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is part of the executive branch of state government, one of 20 executive departments headed by a commissioner appointed by the governor and approved by the state Senate.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services is an organization of individuals with a commitment to bettering the lives of Minnesotans by providing essential services to Minnesota’s most vulnerable residents and supporting people to live as independently as possible.

Initial Certification: RI Consulting has been contracted by the Minnesota DHS to provide Certified Peer Specialist training. Currently this is the only approved training for the certification of mental health peers. Per the Minnesota DHS, if you are in interested in learning more about how to become a Certified Peer Specialist, please email your interest to DHS.[email protected].

Renewal: The CE requirement for CPS renewal is 30 hours every 2 years. Per the Minnesota DHS, at the moment there is no certification board for the mental health peers nor is there an official recertification process.

Certified Peer Specialist
