Natalie Rogers has produced a remarkable new CD-ROM resource for students, teachers, libraries, professionals and historians. It provides fast, cross-referenced access to Rogers’ writings in chronological and thematic formats. It helps teachers organize and print course materials, and provides students with a research/study tool of chronological excerpts from Rogers’ 16 books which illustrate the development of his theories, practice and personal reflections. It includes the most exhaustive bibliography to date, as well as 120 photographs spanning his lifetime, award-winning, vintage video footage of counseling sessions and encounter groups, sections of his never before published China Diary written at age 20, and courtship/love letters to Helen.

About the Authors:

Natalie Rogers, author of The Creative Connection: Expressive Arts As Healing, and Emerging Woman: A Decade of Midlife Transitions, is a pioneer in expressive arts therapy, leading trainings in Europe, Russia, Latin America, Japan, and the U.S. Dr. Rogers trained and practiced as a psychotherapist. Natalie founded and has recently retired from the Person-Centered Expressive Therapy Institute, Santa Rosa, CA. She is a full professor (adjunct) at the California Institute of Integral Studies, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and Distinguised Consulting Faculty at Saybrook Graduate School. She is an artist, mother, and grandmother.

Course Objectives:

1. To describe how Carl Rogers’ early family, educational, and career experiences aided him in developing his groundbreaking theories

2. To discuss the philosophy and goals of psychotherapy within the Person-Centered Approach

3. To describe the necessary and sufficient conditions for personality change within psychotherapy

4. To identify the trends or patterns that emerge in long-term therapy groups

5. To discuss the role of the Person-Centered Approach in education
